One in three pensioners gets only 3,340 UAH

As of early April 2025, there are 10,331,375 pensioners in Ukraine. This is almost 177,000 fewer than in April 2024.

The average pension in Ukraine increased to 6,341 UAH (about $152) after the yearly adjustment. This is 10% more than last year in hryvnia. However, inflation was 14.6%, so in reality, pensions lost value.

One in three pensioners (over 3 million people) receives 3,340 UAH ($80) per month. Thanks to indexation, the number of people getting less than 3,000 UAH has dropped by 7 times. Now, 398,000 people (3.9%) get such a low pension.

At the same time, 1.5 million Ukrainians (14.5% of all pensioners) receive pensions over 10,000 UAH. The average pension in this group is 15,640 UAH (about $374).

Another 3 million people (29%) receive pensions slightly above the national average — 6,860 UAH (about $164).

Also, 20% of pensioners (2.1 million people) get about 4,500 UAH ($107).

The highest pensions are in Kyiv — 8,708 UAH (37% more than average). Next are Donetsk region — 7,814 UAH (+23%), and Luhansk region — 7,314 UAH (+15%). The lowest pensions are in Ternopil region (4,931 UAH) and Chernivtsi region (5,100 UAH).

The largest number of pensioners live in Dnipropetrovsk region — 873,000 people, in Kyiv — 748,000, and in Kharkiv region — 707,000. The smallest number is in Chernivtsi region — only 206,000 pensioners.

It’s also important to note that almost one-third of Ukrainian pensioners are still working — 2.9 million people (28%). Their average pension is 6,863 UAH.
